My Journey
I’ve always believed that life is a journey—and each chapter deserves to be embraced with purpose and joy.
I began my career as a first-grade teacher, where I spent seven years pouring into my students. What I didn’t realize then was that my love for creating warm, welcoming spaces started in that classroom—rearranging furniture weekly, carefully designing bulletin boards, and making sure every child felt seen and safe.
When my husband’s job moved us to a new state, I took time to reflect on my passions. That’s when I began to recognize the quiet, steady influence of my mom. She had a gift for celebrating life—making every holiday magical and every moment meaningful. Her love for home and tradition became the foundation of my own creativity.
Not long after, I helped a friend with her home, and when she shared photos of the transformation, the phone started ringing. Just like that, Julienne Design was born—named after my given name, passed down from my mom’s family.
Wanting to honor this new path, I returned to school to formally study interior design. Soon after, I launched my own firm and spent over a decade designing full-time—without ever advertising. It was all word of mouth, and heart-led work.
Life kept evolving. When our youngest left for college, we relocated to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to my dad. In just two years, we hosted college graduations, planned a wedding, remodeled a home, and welcomed guests for milestone celebrations. Then, another chapter began when my husband’s job brought us back to the Kansas City area, where we also welcomed Beau—our beloved Goldendoodle puppy who quickly filled our empty nest with joy (and just a little mischief).
Through two moves, home renovations, party planning, and puppy training, I’ve learned so much—not just about design, but about life, transitions, and how to make every space feel like home. I’ve spent countless hours searching for just the right pieces for each occasion, and now, I want to share what I’ve learned with others walking through similar seasons.
Whether you’re adjusting to an empty nest, planning a celebration, or simply craving a deeper connection to your space, I hope my journey can help guide yours.
Let’s do life together—one meaningful, beautiful season at a time. 💛
