My Journey
I believe life is a journey and you must embrace each chapter. I started out as a 1st grade teacher when I graduated from college. I taught seven years and then my husband’s job took us to a new state. At that point, I evaluated my life, career and passions. I realized that during the years I taught I rearranged my classroom each week, enjoyed the process of setting up my classroom each year and bulletin boards were a huge part of making my students feel comfortable and loved.
My mom was a huge part in teaching me the joy of design. She made every holiday special and instilled in me that it was important to celebrate each moment in life. After I had my girls, I was helping a friend with her home and she posted pictures of how I had transformed her home. When started getting calls for my number Julienne Design was born.
I decided I needed to go back to school and learn the fundamentals of design. After getting my degree, I started my own design firm and had constant work for 10 plus years without ever advertising. When my youngest went to college, my husband and I moved from Kansas City to NW Arkansas to be closer to my dad. During the 2 years in Arkansas we had 2 college graduations, a wedding and hosted several friends graduation parties all after remodeling our Arkansas home. Our life took a new turn when my husband’s job took us back to the Kansas City area. Like I said “life is a journey”. Once we returned to KC we decided that the empty nesters needed a new puppy to love. So Beau, our Goldendoodle, joined our family at the end of June.
During the 2 moves and all the home decor that was purchased for the homes, along with the wedding decor and party planning and raising a puppy we have found many items that have come in handy. As I sat in my new home thinking of all the hours that I scanned the web for the perfect items for each event, I thought I might share my knowledge to help those going through similar life events. I hope you can benefit from my journey and come along so we can do life together. ENJOY each season for they go by so fast.
